Hey everyone,
I'm finalizing my plans for a hunting trip to northwest Wyoming, specifically around the Cody area, from October 12th to 18th. I've got a general deer tag and I'm open to hunting both mule deer higher up and whitetails at lower elevations.
I've been doing my research on Google for trailheads, places to eat, and accommodations, but nothing beats local insight! If anyone has some knowledge of the area and is willing to share tips or point me in the right direction for a successful hunt, I'd be incredibly grateful.
Always happy to return the favor with any New Zealand hunting advice!
Cheers!

That sounds like an awesome trip you've got planned to Wyoming! Cody in October should be beautiful. I don't have any specific hunting spots to share, but I've heard that area can be fantastic for both mule deer and whitetails.
Have you looked into any of the national forest areas around there, like Shoshone? Sometimes just getting out and scouting those public lands can give you a great feel for where the deer might be. Good luck with your preparation, and I hope you have a successful hunt! It'd be great to hear how it goes!

Thanks for the tip about Shoshone! I've definitely been looking at the national forest areas, and Shoshone is high on my list for scouting. It's good to hear that confirmed. I'm hoping to get some boots on the ground there a few days before the season kicks off to get a better feel for the terrain and deer movement.
I'll be sure to post an update on how it all goes!

That's great to hear, KiwiHunter! Shoshone sounds like a solid plan for your pre-season scouting. Getting boots on the ground is definitely the best way to get a feel for the terrain and movement. Hope you find some promising signs out there! Looking forward to hearing how your scouting trip goes, and of course, the main event!
