Description
The Glock 18 is a select-fire, fully automatic machine pistol chambered in 9mm, developed in 1987 for elite law enforcement and military counter-terrorism units. Mechanically derived from the Glock 17, it adds a slide-mounted selector switch enabling both semi-automatic and fully automatic fire at a cyclic rate of approximately 1,200 rounds per minute. The Glock 49 Gen 6 is a crossover 9mm pistol that combines the longer G17-length slide and 4.49-inch barrel with the compact G19-length grip, delivering 15-round capacity and extended sight radius in a more concealable package — now featuring all Gen 6 enhancements including the Optic Ready System (ORS), flat-face trigger, RTF6 grip texture, and enlarged beavertail. Currently available for international markets.

Pros
  • Unmatched rate of fire — ~1,200 RPM delivers extraordinary close-range suppressive capability
  • Select-fire versatility — quickly switches between precise semi-auto and full-auto modes
  • Compact, concealable form factor similar to the Glock 17 — fits standard G17 holsters
  • Compatible with all standard 9mm Glock magazines, including extended 33-round capacity
  • Proven Glock reliability — durable polymer frame and Tenifer-hardened slide handle intense full-auto stress
  • Accessory rail for mounting lights, lasers, and tactical equipment
  • Glock 18C compensated variant reduces muzzle rise ~30% during full-auto fire via ported slide and barrel
  • Ideal PDW for VIP protection, counter-terrorism, and close-quarters room clearing

  • Crossover design delivers G17 barrel length and sight radius with G19 grip concealability and 15-round capacity
  • Gen 6 ORS optic system mounts red dots lower than previous MOS plates for better dot-to-eye alignment
  • Three optics plates included in box (RMR, DeltaPoint Pro/Shield/Holosun K, C-More) — optics-ready out of the box
  • RTF6 grip texture covers more surface area including thumb rests for superior grip in wet or dirty conditions
  • Gen 6 flat-face trigger offers slightly shorter trigger reach and improved leverage over previous generations
  • Enlarged beavertail enables a higher, more secure grip and reduces slide bite
  • Palm swells and undercut trigger guard improve fit for a wide range of hand sizes
  • Ambidextrous gas pedal thumb rests aid recoil management — previously required aftermarket installation
  • Durable nDLC finish for excellent corrosion and scratch resistance
  • Compatible with most Gen 5 holsters and all legacy G19 9mm magazines

Cons
  • Strictly restricted to law enforcement and military — not legally available to civilians in most jurisdictions
  • Extremely difficult to control on full-auto — requires significant training to keep rounds on target
  • Empties a 17-round magazine in under one second on full-auto, making sustained fire nearly impossible
  • Standard 17-round magazine impractical for full-auto; 31–33 round extended mags required for sustained fire
  • Extended magazines compromise concealability in a holster carry setup
  • Glock 18C (ported variant) generates more noise, blast, and flash — hearing protection critical
  • Frame rails deliberately non-interchangeable with G17 to prevent illegal conversions

  • Currently available for international markets only — U.S. availability not confirmed at launch
  • G17-length slide makes it larger and slightly harder to conceal IWB than a standard G19
  • Gen 6 frame uses new proprietary parts — not fully backward compatible with Gen 1–4 internals
  • Standard factory sights are basic; most users will upgrade to night sights or a red dot
  • ORS direct-mount footprints limited to RMR, DeltaPoint Pro/Holosun K, and C-More at launch — other optics may need adapter plates
  • Gen 5 Kydex holsters may need retention adjustment due to new enlarged slide stop and integrated beavertail

Best For
  • Counter-terrorism and special operations units requiring compact, overwhelming close-range firepower
  • VIP and executive protection teams needing a concealable weapon with burst-fire capability
  • Military and police tactical units for close-quarters battle (CQB) and room-clearing operations
  • Licensed SOT Class III dealers and qualified manufacturers for demonstration and training purposes

  • Shooters who want the longer barrel and sight radius of the G17 with the concealability of the G19 grip
  • Optics-forward carry — the ORS system is purpose-built for red dot equipped everyday carry
  • Law enforcement and duty use where a longer sight radius and 15-round capacity are priorities
  • Competition shooters wanting a crossover pistol with factory optics mounting and ergonomic upgrades
  • Glock enthusiasts and international buyers seeking the latest Gen 6 platform

Accessories
  • Extended magazines — Glock OEM 31-round and 33-round (strongly recommended for full-auto use)
  • Glock 18C compensated variant — factory-ported slide and barrel for reduced muzzle rise in full-auto
  • Weapon lights — Streamlight TLR-1 HL, SureFire X300U (accessory rail compatible)
  • Folding stocks and shoulder braces — aftermarket options for improved full-auto control (jurisdiction dependent)
  • Duty holsters — compatible with standard G17 holsters (Safariland, Blackhawk) with flush-fit magazines
  • Suppressors — threaded barrel adapters for military and LE units for reduced sound signature in CQB

  • Red dot optics (ORS direct mount) — Trijicon RMR Type 2, Holosun 507C / 507COMP, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro (included plates, no adapter required)
  • Weapon lights — Streamlight TLR-7A, SureFire X300U, Olight PL-Pro Valkyrie (Picatinny rail compatible)
  • IWB/OWB holsters — Safariland (Ballast, Solis), Vedder, PHLster (Gen 6-specific Kydex options)
  • Extended magazines — Glock OEM 17-round, 19-round, and 33-round; Magpul GL9 17-round PMAG
  • Night sights and suppressor-height irons — AmeriGlo, Trijicon HD, Night Fision (for co-witnessing with red dot)
  • Aftermarket triggers — Apex Tactical, Overwatch Precision (if further customization desired beyond factory flat-face)
  • Grip enhancements — TALON Grips, Tyrant Designs CNC parts for additional texture beyond RTF6
