Description
The Glock 45 is a compact crossover Gen5 pistol that pairs a full-size G17 frame with a compact G19-length slide, delivering 17+1 round capacity, superior controllability, and the latest Gen5 enhancements — purpose-built for law enforcement, duty carry, and home defense. The Glock 18 is a select-fire, fully automatic machine pistol chambered in 9mm, developed in 1987 for elite law enforcement and military counter-terrorism units. Mechanically derived from the Glock 17, it adds a slide-mounted selector switch enabling both semi-automatic and fully automatic fire at a cyclic rate of approximately 1,200 rounds per minute.

Pros
  • Exceptional reliability — thousands of rounds without malfunction reported by users
  • Full-size G17 grip offers outstanding control and 17+1 round capacity
  • Compact G19 slide aids maneuverability and reduces muzzle flip
  • Gen5 GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB) delivers improved accuracy
  • Flared magwell enables faster, more reliable magazine changes
  • nDLC finish provides superior corrosion and scratch resistance
  • Ambidextrous slide stop and reversible magazine catch for left-handed shooters
  • Extensive aftermarket ecosystem — sights, triggers, lights, holsters
  • Modular beavertail backstrap system fits a wide range of hand sizes
  • Compatible with G19 holsters for broad carry options
  • Unmatched rate of fire — ~1,200 RPM delivers extraordinary close-range suppressive capability
  • Select-fire versatility — quickly switches between precise semi-auto and full-auto modes
  • Compact, concealable form factor similar to the Glock 17 — fits standard G17 holsters
  • Compatible with all standard 9mm Glock magazines, including extended 33-round capacity
  • Proven Glock reliability — durable polymer frame and Tenifer-hardened slide handle intense full-auto stress
  • Accessory rail for mounting lights, lasers, and tactical equipment
  • Glock 18C compensated variant reduces muzzle rise ~30% during full-auto fire via ported slide and barrel
  • Ideal PDW for VIP protection, counter-terrorism, and close-quarters room clearing

Cons
  • Full-size grip makes it harder to conceal than the G19 or Slimline models
  • Available only in 9mm — no caliber options
  • Standard factory sights are basic; most users upgrade to night sights or a red dot
  • No manual safety — relies entirely on the Safe Action® System
  • Higher price point compared to some similarly sized competitors
  • Polymer frame may not appeal to those preferring metal-framed pistols
  • Strictly restricted to law enforcement and military — not legally available to civilians in most jurisdictions
  • Extremely difficult to control on full-auto — requires significant training to keep rounds on target
  • Empties a 17-round magazine in under one second on full-auto, making sustained fire nearly impossible
  • Standard 17-round magazine impractical for full-auto; 31–33 round extended mags required for sustained fire
  • Extended magazines compromise concealability in a holster carry setup
  • Glock 18C (ported variant) generates more noise, blast, and flash — hearing protection critical
  • Frame rails deliberately non-interchangeable with G17 to prevent illegal conversions

Best For
  • Law enforcement and duty carry
  • Home defense — high capacity and full-size grip for better control
  • Competitive shooting and range use
  • Shooters with larger hands who find the G19 grip too short
  • Those transitioning from the G17 who want a more maneuverable slide
  • Counter-terrorism and special operations units requiring compact, overwhelming close-range firepower
  • VIP and executive protection teams needing a concealable weapon with burst-fire capability
  • Military and police tactical units for close-quarters battle (CQB) and room-clearing operations
  • Licensed SOT Class III dealers and qualified manufacturers for demonstration and training purposes

Accessories
  • Weapon Lights: Streamlight TLR-7A, Surefire X300U, Olight PL-Pro Valkyrie — compatible with the Picatinny rail.
  • Red Dot Optics (MOS variant): Holosun 507C, Trijicon RMR, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro — via the G45 MOS optics adapter plate system.
  • Night Sights: AmeriGlo, Trijicon HD, Night Fision — popular drop-in upgrades over the factory sights.
  • IWB/OWB Holsters: Compatible with most G19 Gen5 holsters; also supported by Safariland, Alien Gear, Vedder, and Blackhawk.
  • Extended Magazines: Glock OEM 19-round and 24-round magazines; aftermarket options from Magpul GL9.
  • Trigger Upgrades: Apex Tactical, Overwatch Precision TAC trigger for improved pull weight and reset.
  • Cleaning & Maintenance: GLOCK OEM cleaning kit included; Hoppe's No. 9 and FrogLube CLP recommended for routine maintenance.

  • Extended magazines — Glock OEM 31-round and 33-round (strongly recommended for full-auto use)
  • Glock 18C compensated variant — factory-ported slide and barrel for reduced muzzle rise in full-auto
  • Weapon lights — Streamlight TLR-1 HL, SureFire X300U (accessory rail compatible)
  • Folding stocks and shoulder braces — aftermarket options for improved full-auto control (jurisdiction dependent)
  • Duty holsters — compatible with standard G17 holsters (Safariland, Blackhawk) with flush-fit magazines
  • Suppressors — threaded barrel adapters for military and LE units for reduced sound signature in CQB
